FUTURE:PRESENT 2025
17 & 18 October 2025 | Goodwood Theatre and Studios
4 playwrights. 4 directors. 4 actors. 4 world premieres.
FUTURE:PRESENT is back! On 17 & 18th October, Theatre Republic’s fast-response experimental theatre event returns to the Goodwood Theatre for its third iteration.
Four South Australian playwrights each have just four days to write a new short play in response to an urgent contemporary issue. A team of four directors and four actors then have four days to rehearse all four new works, before they are performed before live audiences on one exciting weekend.
This year’s theme is FAMILY: We all have a family. But how do we define family now? Is it something we’re born into, or something we choose? Does family support us or does it destroy us? How is the idea of family changing, and who gets to decide what it means?
FUTURE:PRESENT sold out its first two iterations, packed out with audiences who were excited to take risks with us and embark on an unknown journey. For 2025, by popular demand, we’re adding a second performance!
